Subject: Social Media use and Acceptable Behavior
There is a heightened need to develop a sound social media usage policy that will bring
individuals into account for any abuse or misuse of social media platforms. The Internet Policy
for the company is inadequate as it does not incorporate the very much attention brought about
by emerging trends in employees spending an incredible amount of time on social media sites.
The scope needs to be clear to map the boundary beyond which employees are held to account.
Regrettably, the company loses a huge amount of productive time surfing the web. Also, the
communication channel should always be official. There is a need to have strict official
communication to avoid confusion that comes with contradictions to the recipients of the
information. We appreciate that words matter, and it is for this reason that words selected for
official communication must go through approvals. This is to ensure that everything is done in
the right way to convey the intended message rather than an unintended message reaching the
