Education for me gives us an awareness of the world around us and change it into something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. “The real value of a real education, which has almost nothing to do with knowledge, and everything to do with simple awareness” (5) and it will truly make you free for life (2). According to “This is water” by David Foster Wallace, “the real value of a real education which has almost nothing to do with knowledge, and everything to do with simple awareness, awareness of what is so real and essential, so hidden in plain sight all around us, all the time, that we have to keep reminding ourselves over and over. “This is water.” “This is water. Wallace for reminding me that education is about choosing to escape our biological and cultural default settings; that we can only control our own minds, not the external world; that real education is a lifelong process; and that the meaning of life is found, if anywhere, in ordinary things. According to “Learning to read” by Malcolm x, education made him free even though he was imprisoned he said “I never had been so truly free in my life” he used all the possible resource around him to educate himself. He picked the dictionary as his teacher and used all the books on his reach to get employed. He used the books to enlighten him around the issues affecting the society. The books opened his eyes, mind and ears around the issues affecting his people including the economic and political rights for the black Americans. Education is very important for every country. Education begins at home and continues throughout our life. There are many reasons why people need education. It helps them to learn new things, find good jobs and lead a respectable life in the society. The more educated a person the higher is the chances of her or his success in life. There are several reasons why people need education. The main reason being, we need to be alert and aware of things that affect our daily life. It is the need of all human beings to know about what is happening so that they can plan for future and take any steps to counter immediate problems and situations. The importance of education can be understood from one fact that educated people are truly free and live happier life than those who are uneducated. In conclusion, imagine a world where everyone is uneducated. We would perhaps never have worn clothes or eaten delicious food. Possibly, we would be walking around in the forest and climbing mountains, hunting for wild animals for flesh accompanied by leaves, roots and fruits but education gave us an awareness of the world around us and change it into something better. For next time, think about including summaries of both texts, but otherwise keep up the good work! Grade: B+

How can the stories we tell about ourselves and/ or others impact our perception of the world?
Our internal story impacts our perception in important ways. It shapes our sense of what is possible

impact our perceptions of the world based on Adichie’s TED talk, “The Danger of a Single Story”, and
the article "my least favorite question" by Patricia Park.
From “The Danger of a Single Story” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie our lives are made of many
overlapping stories that can create complex perceptions when reduced to a single narrative. In “the danger
of a single story”, Adichie describes the overly simplistic and sometimes false perceptions we form about
