It all started long before, when Jefferson intended to become friends with the Indians. Even
thought there were states that were against him. Therefore, Jefferson proposed that they let them
stay there, around 1802. There was a time when hunting was not enough for Indians to eat, so
Jefferson said that they should let them manage the land for agriculture, which is what would
make dependent Americans of Indians, and therefore business partners. Only that will gain time
to make other countries in favor of Indians.
Seeing that this did not bear fruit, they decided to give them the “freedom” they deserved, that is,
