R(x) = 1 + x – x2; 0 < x ≤ 1
Solution
Differentiate R(x) = 1 + x – x2
R’(x) = 1-2x
1-2x = 0
Where x = 0.5
Mortality rate therefore is 50%
The company’s profit function, P(x) is given by P(x) = R(x) – 1.
Therefore P(x) = R(x) – 1
Will be = 1 + x – x2– 1
P(x) = x-x2
Differentiate P(x)
1- 2x = 0
x = 0.5
