There are various performance evaluation methods. In case study 2, the rank and yank
technique is used in the assessment. It is a combination of the graphic rating scale and group
order ranking evaluation methods. The graphic rating scale appraisal or evaluation method is an
example of an absolute standard performance evaluation method. In this type of evaluation
method, each of the employee’s performances is measured against already established standards
(DeCenzo et al., 2013). In this case study, the managers a have a pre-set parameter /scale
numbered 4,3,2,1 with 4 being the lowest rating and 1 the highest. It is used to determine the
individual performances of each employee in the firm.
