Introduction

Cherokee Indians are a tribe in North America. Cherokees are among the largest tribes in
the region, which are politically integrated, and they also had an important role in the making of
our great nation. The word "Cherokee" means individuals with different speech, and the tribe's
historical lands cover the areas from the Great Lakes Region to Texas. Over three hundred
thousand individuals from around the world can trace their roots to the Cherokee tribe. The tribe
originated from Asia, but over time, they slowly made their way to the Great Smoky Mountains
along the North Carolina and Tennessee border in the United States (Royce, 2018). Their
territories also spanned areas in South West Virginia and North Carolina. However, through the
signing of numerous treaties between 1721 and 1835, the tribe saw its land ownership dwindle
and eventually eliminated (Boulware, 2018). The Cherokee Indians' life and culture have
significantly influenced other Native American societies in the United States and suffered
immense losses over the years because of land encroachment and breakdown in relations.

The Cherokee Indians migrated to North America in three waves. The earliest Cherokee
