Leadership is the act of influencing the actions of others to increase performance or attain
a specific objective (Lucia, 2018). Managers and leaders vary in terms of the diverse activities or
operations they perform. A leader prioritizes engagement as a means to attain positive outcomes
and improves the extent to which followers perceive teamwork. A manager, on the other hand,
delegates authority regarding how tasks should be done and managed (Schermerhorm, 2012). As
such, employees work on their own with a focus on the manager’s guidelines and anticipated
results. A leader has long-term plans for the followers and will institute measures and strategies
that are geared towards specific goals and outcomes. Managers are concerned with the current
operations and will supervise and oversee the extent to which employees fulfill their mandate in
assigned tasks (Lucia, 2018). While a leader explores possible avenues to increase performance
