Gary Erickson not only had the vision to become a business owner but was passionate
about was determined to be a successful ethical entrepreneur who did the right things to grow his
venture. In the How I Built This podcast, the owner of Clif Bar, an energy bar for endurance
sport athletes such as long-distance runners, mountain climber, and cyclist, described how he
turned his mother's cookie recipes into one of the leading products in the United States. Also, he
used the interview to relate the challenges of starting his own company, using organic finance,
experiences from failures, and the power of perseverance during the growth phase of the
business. One of the key highlights from this episode of the podcast was the need for
entrepreneurs to obtain the new technical support when making significant decisions that would
