The love of Ophelia and Hamlet
The play called Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare, tells of various themes,
amongst which is the theme of love. In the play, we see different instances of the subject of love,
such as the relationship between Claudius and his brother’s widow Gertrude. The theme of love
in this part tells of loyalty and how Claudius killed his brother so that he can inherit his wife and
crown. However, the subject of the story of interest is the relationship between Hamlet, the
prince, and Ophelia Polonius’s daughter (Friel’s, 2018). However, there is still a lot of confusion
as to whether Hamlet loved Ophelia or it was madness. In this paper, we shall do a close analysis
to determine whether hamlet loved Ophelia or not.
In the play, we see how romantic feelings develop between Ophelia and hamlet when
Ophelia admits that she had an interest in hamlet. However, her brother Laertes warns her that
