Running head: OBSTETRIC FISTULA
Obstetric fistula is the condition that occurs during birth where women develop a hole in
the birth canal. Fistula is one of the many conditions that affect African women as a result of
prolonged labor. Lufumpa, Doos, & Lindenmeyer (2018) highlight that fistula is not only
attributed to the obstructed labor but also, the caesarian surgery errors. There are approximately
two million women living with fistula, and fifty to a hundred thousand new cases are reported
every new year across the world. In the developing countries, the majority of the women are
living with untreated obstetric fistula (Alattar, 2018).
