Need help with my English question - I’m studying for my class.

Narrative Comparison
Short stories may have similar plots, themes, settings, contexts, and conflicts. The
similarities of narratives or short stories tend to provide a wide view of the themes that are
affecting a community. For instance, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson is similar to The Ones Who
Walk Away from Omelas by Ursula K. Le Guin. Both narratives are based on the issues and
conflicts that are practiced by some traditional communities. Both narratives also portray the
evils of some traditions that can be termed immoral as they involve the death and suffering of the
selected individuals from society. For example, The Lottery describes the death of a person who
is voted by the community who suffers by being stoned to death (Jackson, 25). Also, Ursula’s
narrative describes the suffering of a young child who is denied his or her life aspects and does
not receive social amenities or enough food for the benefit of the entire community (Le Guin, 2).
