The oppositional defiant disorder is a disobedient behaviour that is shown by children to
people above them. The defiant disorder is a disruptive behaviour disorder and is
regarded as a common mental health disorder that is found with children. There are
common behaviours that children with such disorder would end up revealing such as
defiance, negativity, spitefulness, hostility, and verbal aggression. There are causes and
symptoms of the oppositional defiant disorder, which are discussed in the paper. The
factors are categorized as psychological, biological, and social risk factors that are
responsible for the development of the disorder. The psychological factors and social
factors also play a part in developing the oppositional defiant disorders that are witnessed
in children. The behaviour is known to be evidenced by the age of 8 years, where a child
knows how to interact and have developed brains.
Various interventions and treatment are discussed in the paper to show how the children
who have developed the oppositional defiant disorder. The intervention needs to be
managed well by the patients and the practitioners. The interventions that can be utilized
are child development projects for preschool, use of good behaviour game and early
childhood. Another intervention is using individual psychotherapy, which promotes skills
such as communication skills and anger management skills. The integration with other
therapies such as peer group therapy and family intervention therapy is also discussed in
the paper. The future on the treatment of the oppositional defiant disorder is discussed
well to show how society needs to act. The family intervention, as discussed in the paper,

disorder that is found with children and adolescents. The children who have the disorder
are often stubborn, rebel, and argue with adults, which leads to disobedience. In this
paper, we will analyze the aspect of oppositional defiant disorder and how it can be
resolved. The paper will try to incorporate information on the causes of disorder and how
it can be prevented.
There are common behaviors that children with the oppositional defiant disorder
would end up revealing. The behaviors could be defiance, negativity, spitefulness,
hostility, and verbal aggression. There is a need to have a mental health professional to
address the issue when signs start portraying. The behaviors are known to create a
complicated relationship, which causes a disturbance at home in school and with peers.
The mental health professional will be able to address the issue with the children and the
adolescents who are suspected of having an oppositional defiant disorder. There is a need
to understand the disorder associated with other mental complications, and if it is not
addressed in the early stages, it develops to conduct disorder (Murrihy et al. 2017). The
conduct disorder is known as a disruptive behavior disorder that is more serious. There is



a need to engage in early intervention and treatment to help the children in overcoming
