Ancient Greece had magnificent works of art. Most of the ancient Greek arts were
original. The Greeks sought perfection and continual improvement. The ancient Greeks
developed the concept of human sovereignty and accountability into a world view of visual
expression in art. The Greeks just like other ancient artists did not practice art for art’s sake but
rather for various functions in life. The most recognizable objects from Greek collection of arts
include vases, jars, and plates. Apart from pottery, the Greeks also designed metal objects,
sculptures, and panel painting. The Greeks featured in architecture and a creative world for
future cultures. Greeks have a great influence on today's life based on their artistry. This paper
focuses on the creative forces during the ancient Greek period and the factors that influenced
artistic production during the ancient Greek period. The forces include architecture, painting,
sculptures, and art.
The archaic period was known for vase painting and sculpture which are also creative
forces at work. The Greek sculpture was meant to show perfection. The sculptures were
considered a reflection of the human figure. The Greeks had an interest in forms of human to
indicate various artistry. During the start of the period, the sculptures began as carve life-sized
large figures of men and women used in sanctuaries and monuments. The figures had firm and
erect postures. Men were depicted as nude. The sculptures were painted with many colors.
Human and animal art was depicted with realism and conveyed realistic stories and events
(Marina, Lapatin, & Mozzati, 2004). The figures were painted in black-figure and red-figure
pottery. The most durable paintings were found decorating ceramic pottery. Pictures on the
pottery were a depiction of heroic and sad stories of gods and humans. The Parthenon of Athens
was built during the classical age witnessing the flowering of sculpture. The classical age
