Introduction
Occupational hazards are prevalent in nursing practice. Yet, the safety of nurses is pivotal
in providing quality health care. Many nurses do overwork; others are exposed to possible germs
and flu, which puts their lives at risk. The wellbeing of nurses in their workplace has a
significant contribution to the delivery of quality healthcare (Ahmed & Shareef, 2019). However,
in many organizations, nurses are exposed to hazardous environments, physical, chemical and
biological, which endanger not only their lives but also those of the patients they attend. The
primary goal of this study is to analyze the occupational hazards facing pediatric nurses by using
the PICOT process. The discussion further provides a PICOT research question at the end.
Problem/Population
The research study involved a sample of 173 nurses who care for children and
adolescents from Mansoura University. The study aimed to find out the impact of implementing
the occupational hazard guidelines as well as the safety precaution measures among the nurses.
The same can be achieved by assessing the environmental hazards which were reported by
nurses. Also, the goal can be realized by assessing how nurses perceive health safety measures in
nursing health care.
