The key tenets of community activism are social justice, empowerment, praxis, raising
consciousness and critical reflection. Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) are
expected to have these key principles of community activism to ensure that community health
outcomes are improved. ARNPs are important players in caring for patients in the community
