Question Description

Help me study for my Computer Science class. I’m stuck and don’t understand.

Instant messaging (IM) use in enterprises has proliferated – despite the fact that frequently proper policies, controls, and security measures are not in place to prevent e-document and data loss. There are a variety of threats to IM use that enterprises must defend against to keep their information assets secure.

For this assignment, write a 5-6 page academic paper that first identifies the threats to IM use that the enterprise must defend against to keep their information assets secure. Instant Messaging (IM) Security Threats
Instant Messaging (IM) provides both individuals and enterprises with a fast and efficient
medium for real-time time communication. IM has found an essential place in the business sector
by promoting communication within the business, with customers, partners, and real-time
exchange of information in the management and coordination of projects. While IM is a vital tool
for communication in enterprises, it attracts significant security risks if proper security measures
are not put in place. Most of the Instant Messaging channels lack effective security protocols to
protect vital information from being attacked by virus and other malicious code. Additionally,
inadequate security measures can enable intruders to bypass inspection filters of corporate content
leading to loss of information privacy.
Instant Messaging Threats
Instant Messaging has been established to be vulnerable to a wide range of security threats,
including viruses and worms, identity theft, impersonation, denial-of-service attacks, loss of data,
and eavesdropping.

One of the most important elements of the Instant Messaging tools is the file-sharing
functionality, which promotes file-sharing between users. The file-sharing functionality is targeted
by messaging viruses, worms, and Trojan horses as a platform for spreading malicious code
(Cheng, Liu, & Yao, 2017). For instance, MSN messenger has become a soft target for worms that
are trying to exploit certain networks and clients. Choke worm has been one of the most prevalent
worms that spread malware in the MSN Messenger. This worm spreads in the form of a
