Part 1
Problem Statement
One of the most critical factors for the development of effective teamwork is
psychological safety, where all the members have the freedom to express conflicting opinions as
well as taking risks. According to Shen et al. (2017), the availability of unsafe acts may result in
accidents, making it essential to develop safety behavior in the workplace. While the majority of
the studies focus on the importance of psychological safety in the enhancement of employees’
productivity, there is limited research on the role that transformational leadership plays in the
creation of such an environment. The psychological safety that helps in increasing the creativity
of employees can make them engage in unethical practices, more so when they lack effective
leadership (Yi et al., 2017). In theory, employees that feel secure to venture into innovative
initiatives are likely to blow the whistle when the organization or colleagues engage in unethical
behavior. However, the achievement of this goal will depend on whether the organization has
strong leadership.
Askew, Beisler, & Keel (2015) argue that in an environment where an individual feels
confident enough to exhibit unethical behavior, it increases the likelihood that other members
will follow a similar suit. This finding outlines the effect of toxic cultures on the practices of
employees in the organization. The impact of psychological safety can also play a critical role in
increasing the understanding of the current challenges facing firms in the market. For instance, it
can give an insight into the fake account issue that faced Well Fargo Courier Company. It was
after the whistleblower was unsuccessful in getting the internal attention on the problem that she
chose to explore other options. However, all these factors should not make organizations dismiss

the critical role played by psychological safety in enhancing innovation, solving team issues, and
increasing team performance. The absence of psychological safety can result in catastrophic
failures. However, in the wrong context, such as when a firm has ineffective hiring practices,
poor leadership, and perverse incentives, psychological safety could be a significant cause of a
disaster (James Jr., 2015). An organizational climate that increases the effectiveness of the teams
is less useful in dealing with all the unethical practices without transformational leadership.
Purpose of the Study
Over the past years, the majority of the organizations have put in place strategies aimed at
cultivating and developing their ability to deal with complex challenges in the external
environment. Finding a solution to the issues requires broader cognitive processing. The major
challenge is how firms and their leadership can help in dealing with the identified problems by
making employees more innovative. Thus, the focus of this study will be on describing the
impact that psychological safety has on transformational leadership in corporations. It will assess
the extent to which the employees in the organization perceive to be psychologically safe in
taking risks, proposing contrary opinions, and open discussion of issues. It will propose the most
effective strategies that organizations can use in helping their workers in the cultivation of the
ability to come up with creative solutions to the current problems. It will show that through the
engagement in the reflexivity process and determination of the need and facilitation of
psychological safety perception, transformational leaders help in the enhancement of innovation.
Also, it will outline the role of transformational leade...
