Causes and Effects of changing Majors
The National Center for Education Statistics indicates that close to 80% of American
students change their majors at least one time during their period in college. Changing one’s
major may be because of some reasons, like finding a major that one loves more and realizing
that the current major being pursued does not fit into one’s overall professional goal. Although it
may be a good thing in some situations, changing majors can have adverse consequences, such
as having the learners spend more time and financial resources in the pursuit of their education.
