Quality engineering is an essential aspect of every organization that focuses on ensuring
that production processes and service delivery meet the necessary standard requirements. Quality
engineers are tasked with the responsibility of designing, developing, and maintaining systems
that produce products and services that meet and surpass customer expectations. Moreover, a
quality manager ensures that there is a reduction of waste in the entire production process while
correcting and fixing defects that arise in system processes. Software development departments
and software industries also require quality engineers to develop and operate information
technology systems with high-quality standards. The aspect of quality management has evolved
over the decades as organizations are aiming to integrate the dynamics of total quality
management in production processes. TQM combines a set of customer-oriented practices that
improve process development. Given the challenging nature in meeting overall customer
expectations, different management theories have been applied to guide quality management
practices in organizations.
Management theories are relevant because they provide a road map for managers and
employees in meeting end goals and primary objectives. Quality goods maintain current
customers while attracting potential buyers, which eventually boosts sales. In turn, increased
sales lead to higher profits and motivate workers to do better, which improves total productivity.
