Kool Smiles and Benevis were alleged of fraud. Both were fined 25 million dollars.
Benevis is a company that deals with dental management. It operates with different dental clinics
of Kool Smiles which are more than 130 (Robinson, 2018). Both clinics are supposed to pay a
total of fine amounting to $ 24 million to the United States together with participating states. In
addition, they should also pay interest (Robinson, 2018). The clinics were accused of performing
irrelevant dental procedures covered by Medicaid. The Acting Assistance Attorney General at
Medicaid said that dental procedures are not part of the Billing Medicaid programs (Miller,
2018). These health care centers performed pediatric dental services that the court proved that
they were medically unnecessary. This was termed to be exploitation of needy children for
purposes of gaining profits. Investigations were conducted on 17 states on which Kool Smiles
clinics were located (Robinson, 2018). This started when employees who used to work for Kool
