Community activism involves the collaboration of groups, individuals, and organizations
to bring about radical changes in the economic, social, or environmental policies. The goal of
community activism is to transform the society through acts that lead to a direct impact on the
living conditions, eliminate health disparities, and enhance the community environment (Dragon,
2019). Some of the concepts of community activism include community, social justice, critical
reflection, consciousness-raising, empowerment, and praxis.
The community points to the individual and groups that are involved in the push of
reforms in a particular area. Social justice is rooted in the ideals of social equity and human
