HU Social Work Research Study Design & Rationale for The Study Essay

Harvard University

Question Description

I’m working on a Social Science exercise and need support.

Write a four page paper presenting a study design that you believe will help you to obtain relevant evidence to generate new or additional knowledge that will inform the research problem you identified in the Literature Review assignment. In your review, addressing the following:

  1. Provide a very brief statement on the rationale for the study.
  2. State the research question.
  3. Briefly state your study approach (e.g., qualitative or quantitative) and design
    1. Identify your general study approach (e.g., qualitative, quantitative) and indicate whether you will be working with stakeholders in your study process and who these will be and why.
    2. Identify the sample population and sampling framework.
    3. Describe the recruitment procedures for your sample.
    4. Describe your data collection procedures (e.g., focus groups, interviews, survey),including when you will introduce the IRB consent, who will collect data and how, how data will be stored and secured, and any other relevant information.

4. Identify your key measures and concepts (e.g., what will the main quantitative independent and dependent variable measures be? Or, what areas will the focus group or interviews inquire about?). Provide a brief definition of key measures and/or concepts in a table.

5. Describe what your data analysis approach will be (e.g., qualitative coding of transcripts, quantitative statistical analysis, something else?).

6. Identify any known limitations to your study design.

7. Describe how you will disseminate or report your findings.

8. Provide a few statements on what new knowledge you believe your study will create and add to the literature. State how your findings will help fill the knowledge gap you identified in your literature review.

9. Provide a brief discussion of the ways in which your proposed study reflects the values within the Code of Ethics of Social Work (NASW). Select specific examples of areas where your proposed study reflects those values and areas. In this section, you must do more than identify the value—you must clearly explicate the aspects of your study that reflect the value. Describe where your study does not fully reflect the values of the profession and why this is the case (e.g., limitations in sampling, measurement, recruitment, or other issues).

Specifications: The paper will be double-spaced, in APA format, with citations and references. Use the questions (and subitems) as headings within your paper. Include citations as needed to support your statements and decisions. Include a cover page. Save the file with your name in the file title before uploading.

THE RESEARCH QUESTION IS: WHAT ARE THE BARRIERS TO PROVING CHILD/ADOLESCENT EVALUATION AND TREATMENT SERVICES?

THE STUDY DESIGN IS: QUALITATIVE RESEARCH, A CROSS SECTIONAL DESIGN USING A SURVEY APPROACH.

Part 1
When selecting a research approach to help in the provision of information
necessary for decision making in any study, several considerations are needed
by the researcher (Creswell & Creswell, 2017). Since social work-related issues
have a signi cant impact in the involved community as well as the targeted
area of study, it requires the application of an appropriate method that may
result in the overall improvement of the quality of data collected. There are
several areas in relation to social work that may need more attention in the
attempt to ensure that there is an overall improvement of the quality of
services that may help solve the issue in question. To learn more about this
issue as well as the signi cant effects linked with child treatment, this study

aims at analyzing some of the approaches needed to solve the condition. To
obtain data that will assist in the effective management of this condition, the
following research question regarding child treatment will be used.
What are the barriers to proving child/adolescent evaluation and treatment
services?
Part 3
Since this is a relatively sensitive topic, the use of an appropriate method of
data collection will play a signi cant role in the improvement of the quality of
data that is collected in the study. For that reason, the researcher will need to
ensure that the data collection approach used is qualitative since most of the
information will revolve around the barriers hindering child treatment. To learn
more about the possible effects of lack of child treatment and how it relates
with poor health services of adolescents, the stakeholders to participate in this
study are the children with health needs as well as health providers who deal it,
children.
In any research, the inclusion of the right population may help in the collection
of the correct data needed in the study. For this study, the sample will involve
15 children with different medical issues and 20 medical practitioners who will
be selected at random to assist in the useful collection of needed data. After
the selection of the participants who will take part in the study in question, t...
