Experiment 21: Analysis of Group III Ions

Qualitative Analysis – determination of the types of ions present in
solution.
Objective: Analyze a sample that contains a subgroup of Group III
cations, namely, Fe+3, Ni+2, Cr+3, and Al+3.

The ions are precipitated from solution as insoluble sulfides,
hydroxides, or in the case of nickel, as an insoluble complex. Each
cation will precipitate from solution with a distinctive color.
