Maladaptive Perfectionism as a Mediator and Moderator Between Adult Attachment and
Depressive Mood Article Review
When undertaking a research study, it’s essential to ensure that the selection of the
variables to use, the validity and reliability of the study, and the multivariant models used to
assess the data are considered. The article “Maladaptive Perfectionism as a Mediator and
Moderator Between Adult Attachment and Depressive Mood” by Wei, Mallinckrodt, Russell, and
Abraham (2004) examined maladaptive perfectionism as both a mediator and a moderator
between adult attachment and depressive mood. To assess for maladaptive perfectionism, that
article evaluates how participants were concerned over mistakes, had doubts on their abilities to
accomplish tasks, and failure to meet high standards. In this study, the adult attachment was
assessed through anxiety and avoidance while the depressive mood was assessed based on
