Research suggests that elder abuse is more prevalent, predictable and costly in the US.
The US population ages, elder abuse rates are rising, especially among men. According to the
CDC, between 2002 and 2016, the rates of abuse among men aged 60 and above increased by
75% and 35% for women between 2007 and 2016 (Reinberg, n.d.). Among older males, the rate
of homicide due to elder abuse rose 7% between 2010 and 2016 (Reinberg, n.d.). These data
