MANAGING AND COPING WITH STRESS
Procrastination is the main cause of stress for college students. Personally, some practices
make me procrastinate on my tasks. First, I sometimes find it difficult to determine where to begin
to tackle certain tasks. The tasks seem time-consuming and complex, making me put them aside.
This leads to attending a task at the last minute, only to realize that time is limited to complete
(Zacks, & Hen, 2018). Another thing that makes me procrastinate is having a lot of commitments.
This makes my student life feel like a series of obligations. Therefore, I end up postponing some
commitments to free up space.
To efficiently manage my time as a student, I use some strategies. First, I try to be organized
by knowing what I should do and when it should be done. This way, I manage to overcome
distractions that lead to a waste of time. According to Naidoo (2017), organized persons adequately
attend duties. I also set my priorities by arranging commitments based on priority. While
organizing my day's schedule, I give a high priority to activities that need immediate action. The
setting of priorities in the right way helps one to save on time taken to attend several tasks.
