management to juniors, increase customer satisfaction, and lowering costs through cost leadership
techniques (Lagrosen, Y., 2019). Quality management becomes one of the day-to-day tools of
engaging every stakeholder in the decision-making process. TQM tools include Benchmarking,
Six Sigma, and quality partnering, as discussed below.
Benchmarking Technique
Benchmarking is the process of copying and measuring goods, services, and cultures of the
competitors or the best companies known as the best industries to find areas of weaknesses that
need improvement. Benchmarking involves operational, functional, and strategic analysis. There
is always a need to apply benchmarking as a quality management tool in a company due to the
following factors. Benchmarking enables an organization to acquire new skills used by the
competitors and other good performing industries. For the need of setting strategic targets, an
enterprise can benchmark other firms to find ways on how to gain competitive advantage. A firm
can use the target's weaknesses to dominate in the market.
Benchmarking can be used to promote the improvement of the organization's performance. New
skills can be acquired to perfect on their quality of service delivery. Gaining competitive advantage
makes an organization dominate in the market. Customer satisfaction is achieved at maximum
hence improving increasing customer loyalty. Benchmarking is also built on the reduction of costs
of the production as far as cost-benefit analysis is concerned. Customer morale is enhanced by
benchmarking what other top industries treat their employees for maximum output. For an
