Light microscopes can be able to achieve a maximum magnification of X1000 when the oil of
the immersion objective lens is used. The oil of immersion objective lens can achieve the highest
magnification because the oil of immersion added to the smear reduces the refractive index
effect hence maximizes the degree of magnification.
