Abstract
Cultural diversity at the workplace gets defined as the representation of diverse
populations within a society, which comprises gender, race, nationality, sexual orientation, age,
ethnicity, socioeconomic position, or religion. Cultural diversity is significant in the workplace
since it incorporates diverse backgrounds that comprise of different perspectives essential in
problem-solving. Types of diversity in the workplace include educational diversity, ethnicity,
generational diversity, gender diversity, religious diversity, sexual orientation diversity, and
disability.
Cultural diversity brings about several benefits to the organization, which include
innovation, respect, reputation, increased productivity, growth, workers retention, better
recruitment, and compliance. Everything that has an advantage does not lack a disadvantage.
Cultural diversity in an organization is engaged with issues like conflict, disregarding needs, and
harassment. Diversity issues can be alleviated and maintained if the employers are up to the task
to take up active steps that ensure tolerance and acceptance in the organization.
