Topic Perhaps the most significant change in our understanding of the composition of planetary system like our own solar system is the abundance of water. Discuss the relatively new concept of “water worlds” then cite and describe 3 such bodies to be found in our solar system As the field of space exploration advances with time. More and more discoveries continue to appear, especially with the of NASA technology. One of the most recent discoveries is the concept of water world, is a planet that contains a significant portion of its mass composed of water and the surfaces of these planets are seen to be covered in oceans of water (omnilexica,n.d). However, as modern science continues to advance organizations such as NASA have discovered more planetary bodies that are considered to water worlds are: Enceladus, Ganymede and Calisto (NASA,2010). This paper will, explore the concept of water worlds, with specific attention to those planetary bodies that are members of the solar system such as exploring planetary characteristics of water bodies. One example is the Enceladus, the Surtan’s moon. According to Tyler (2010), the body is covered by a white shiny and icy substance that NASA has confirmed to have both nitrogen and oxygen, qualifying the matter to be water. The second of these bodies is Ganymede, the largest of Jupiter’s satellites. It qualifies as a water world since it carries more water than all oceans of the Earth can hold (NASA, 2020). Calisto, which is the other Jupiter's satellite, is the third water world our solar system has. It appears shine from its icy surface. According to NASA, the body has life-supporting qualities, the most important of them being the availability of salty water that covers a large part (Tyler, R. (2010). It also registered traces of oxygen. NASA (2020) – NASA Solar System Exploration. https://www.nasa.gov/specials/ocean-worlds/ Tyler, R. (2010). Water worlds and oceans may be common in the universe.
