ONLINE VS. TRADITIONAL LEARNING 1. Introduction a. With technology that is available today to many students of all economical levels, universities are providing online classes into their traditional way of learning. b. Thus, education is divided into two ways of learning. Some prefer the modern way of learning, and some prefer the traditional method. c. These two ways of teaching both has the same purpose, which is providing education to students. However, they differ in the matter of method, communication, and individuality. 2. Body paragraph #1— Method a. Online education includes both synchronous and asynchronous way of teaching. a. It is up to the professor to decide which method. b. Students make a huge part on both methods in the responsibility of making sure that they are on track of their online classes. b. Traditional education has only one classic method of teaching, which is being physically in class. a. This method is required and cannot be chosen or decided by the professor. b. Professors make a huge part in delivering material accurately to students. c. Students are responsible for attending classes regularly and being engaged during classes. 3. Body paragraph #2—Communication a. Online communication takes time a. Asking questions and receiving feedback can be slow. b. A student must send an email or schedule an online appointment to communicate with the instructor to receive feedback and get answers. b. Traditional classes have faster way of communication a. A student can ask questions face-to-face in the classroom and get answers instantly b. A student can talk to the instructor after class, or face-to-face during office hours every day. d. Body paragraph #3— Individuality a. Online way of learning would not give students the sense of individuality. a. There is no competition nor much effort among students due to the virtual nature of studying online b. All students stand on an equal level in online classes. b. Traditional way of learning would give students a sense of individuality. a. Face to face interactions allow students who are vocal a better advantage and that will create more effort and competition among students during the class to participate and engage. b. A student who is engaging can get noticed by instructors more than those who do not participate during class. 5. Conclusion a. Although the method, communication, and the sense of individuality can be different in both online and traditional way of learning. b. These two teaching systems are substantially similar. They both require the same level of work, time management, and assignments is a huge part on both systems. c. Regardless of the which system, one’s should be willing to learn. Being successful academically and pursuing a degree is an achievement that anyone has accomplished would take pride in. Degree is power.
