Abstract
Voice over Internet Protocol also abbreviated as VoIP is defined as a progressive
telecommunication technology that transfers either a video or voice throughout a high-speed
network, which offers benefits of reliability, cost-efficient, and flexibility features of advanced
telecommunication. However, security-related issues are preventing numerous companies from
accepting the VoIP cloud environ on account of vulnerabilities, holes, and security threats.
Therefore, this paper is a summary of Satapathy & Livingston (2016)’s book titled “A
Comprehensive Survey of Security Issues and Defense Framework for VoIP Cloud." The paper
highlights the current VoIP cloud architecture and several security issues and attacks in the
prevailing framework. Besides, the paper presents all the mechanisms for defence used to
prevent attacks and recommends the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) as the new security
framework.
