Theoretical Framework Intersectional Identity and Systematic Oppression Paper

Question Description

I’m studying for my Social Science class and need an explanation.

Explore and present the "intersectional" identity of a catholic middle eastern 21 year old woman that was born in the US. Think of some of the important elements of identity to represent graphically. Think in terms of teaching about her intersectionality and situatedness in society by illustrating who she is.

Choose 5 of the following axes to represent her intersectionality: one of them has to be race or ethnicity

-indigenity, race or ethnicity, social class, gender, and sexuality, religion

make it reflective, explain why those 5 were chosen

clarify how she would interpret values, norms, ideas, and structures that make her identities "real" as social constructions

accurately identify these values, ideas and structures, as well as synthesize across the axes to show how her situatedness in society affects her identity

discuss the axes in relation to each other

identify her position in relation to social normative positions or privileged and oppressed positions for her axes

-discuss her religion as a devout catholic

-discuss her being a part of a low income family, and is the first person in her family to go to college

-discuss the strictness of her immigrant parents (from iraq) and growing up being taught their traditional middle eastern values

have questions? need any more details? let me know :)
