MKTING1102 Corporate Social Responsibility Final Project: Optional Written Report or Presentation For Sustainability in the Age of Responsibility Due: Written Report Via Dropbox by 11:30 pm Presentations given during Class time on April 6th & 8th Mark Allocation: 40% (Outline & Final Report OR Presentation) Purpose: To critique your chosen companies’ sustainability practices to determine if they are following Visser’s CSR 2.0 Principles of Sustainability. If the principles are not being followed, what recommendations do you have for your chosen company to be more universally sustainable? Identify a business that your group (3-4 members) is interested in critically analyzing their sustainability practices. The business must be a corporation that has over 100 employees and not be an example we have used in class. The business you choose can be an international company, however, there must be business presence in Canada. Learning Objectives: 1. Discover new trends or practices within different industries for Sustainability; 2. Develop a critical perception for the Age of Responsibility CSR principles in practice; 3. Create ideas for how a company could be more sustainable utilizing the Principles of CSR 2.0. Deliverables: 1. Outline 10% (done) • Your group is to submit an outline that describes the essential features of your final project (not the detail). For example, read what you have to do and answer in the final project, the outline provides your thoughts on the information you currently have on your company and what you will be researching for the final project to achieve the final project outcomes. • Headings should include: -Company name -The Principles of CSR 2.0 features your chosen company practices -Possible recommendations your group may make to improve their CSR 2.0 -The responsibilities of each group member. • The outline should be 1 or 2 pages (no more), excluding title page • Written in bullet point format MKTING1102 Corporate Social Responsibility 2. Final Written Report or a Voiced-Over Presentation 30% Now your team has to communicate your company research, how they apply CSR 2.0 Principles and your recommendations as to which CSR 2.0 Principle they can improve upon. Your team has a choice to communicate via a Written Report or a VoicedOver Presentation. Let your instructor know by Friday, March 27th by 6:00 PM which form of communication medium your team plans to submit. What the Written Report Requires: 1. Introduction • • • Explain why you are writing this report. State which company you are analyzing and provide a brief description of the product or service your chosen company offers. Articulate what you will be covering in the report in one or two sentences. Tips for Report Effectiveness: The introduction is to remind your readers of why you are writing the report, what its purpose is. Generally, a direct approach is preferred in a report, this means no extra inconsequential remarks, and each word must count and is relevant to the subject and the assignment. Regardless of your presentation format, business communication best practices for an introduction is to provide somewhat of an agenda to your reader so they know what they can expect in the report. 2. CSR 2.0 Initiatives, Journey, Uniqueness & Recommendations (The body of the report) 1. In this section, explain the CSR 2.0 Principles that your company is proactively planning for or currently practicing. Classify and describe them relating to how they apply to Visser’s CSR 2.0 best practices outlined in our textbook (creativity, scalability, responsiveness, glocality and circularity. 2. Comment about the companies CSR 2.0 journey so far and how far along are they in reaching their goals. 3. Identify their uniqueness (how do they stick out from other business like themselves) of their sustainable efforts in their industry. Have they developed a new process that is cyclical in nature? Are they heading towards net-zero emissions or net-aero footprint? Do they solve social problems in a unique way, furthering social justice or reducing inequality? MKTING1102 Corporate Social Responsibility 4. Provide recommendations on how they could do better with their sustainability efforts. Tips for Report Effectiveness: This content will be the body of your report. When writing it the information you present should have logical reasoning supporting your statements. In other words, an explanation or a credible source to support your ideas or recommendations. Paragraphs should flow in the order that the questions are asked. Business Communications best practices in the body of a report is to use subtitles to guide your reader to a specific section or the next section. As with the introduction, the report body should contain only enough information convey your message in a convincing fashion; don’t overload the body with interesting but unnecessary material. 2. Conclusion • Summarize your key points and recommendations for the report in a paragraph or two. Other Report Requirements • The report should be 5-7 pages. There is no word minimum nor maximum as it is up to you to provide quality content that is clear, concise and complete according to the assignment instructions. • Use APA referencing to ensure you give credit where credit is due, this includes citing your sources (research) within the content of your report as well as in the reference page. • Use APA formatting to ensure you have a professional look to your report. This includes a title page, headings and subheadings that are bolded, and 12 pt font in Times Roman. The only exception is to write the report in single-space rather than double-space because this is how you would write it in the workplace. • This project will be submitted to Turnitin when you hand it in through Dropbox. Turnitin is a web-based service that contains a database of electronic academic material and other learner’s work from around the world. This will help you edit your work for proper use of APA referencing and helps your instructor detect original content of your thoughts and ideas. • Complete your peer evaluations for your group members and hand them in via D2L. Report on Tesla

Reports are used for communicating information that is compiled for researching and
analyzing issues and data (Barlow, Silverberg, & Livingstone, 2019). The reason for writing this
report is to communicate the selected company’s research, how it applies CSR 2.0 principles and
my recommendations as to which CSR 2.0 principles they can improve on. The chosen company
is Tesla which, according to Aaij et al. (2016) focuses primarily on the manufacture of electric
vehicles. Solar roof tile manufacturing, battery energy storage, and home and grid scales. This
report covers several sections, including CSR 2.0 initiatives, journey, uniqueness, and
recommendations, and a conclusion at the end.
According to Visser (2016), the concept of CSR is not new, as it dates back to as early as
mid-to-late 1800s. Visser (2016) further tells that at around the 1950s, there was a book written
known as Social Responsibilities of the Businessman. In the 1960s, the concept grew with the
criticism done on Silent Spring organization by Rachel Cason, which led to the rising of an
environmental movement. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was then picked when General
Motors lost a battle to Ralph Nader. According to Visser (2016), CSR 2.0 is defined by global
commons, innovative partnerships, and stakeholder involvement.
Ever since CSR was created, there are several organizations that have adopted the idea
(Camilleri, 2016). The CSR, as Visser (2016) explains, involves organizations ensuring that they
provide people with high quality and reliable product, paying a fair wage to employees, charging
fair prices, caring for the environment, acting on other social concerns which are issues of
creativity, scalability, responsiveness, and circularity. Visser (2016) explains that several
corporations which work on prosocial endeavours and share that information with their
customers and the communities where they do business. Camilleri (2016) asserts that when CSR
