Description
Toyota rolled out the Mirai, a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (HFCV) and began selling it in Japan in December 2014. The Mirai became partially available in the U.S. in late 2015 and demand has outpaced supply. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe called it the, “ultimate eco car.” It runs on electricity generated by a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. It emits only water and heat. According to the Wall Street Journal, “Developing the Mirai has pushed Toyota beyond mechanical engineering and into the world of chemistry.”
The technology to develop a vehicle such as the Mirai obviously exists and the demand for the car is high. So, why haven’t the American car manufacturers developed a similar type of car(s) domestically?
State your reasoning as to why American car manufacturers haven’t already done so and made these cars available for use in the United States. No long paragraph is needed. Thank you.
