what are the legal issues that are related to public policies,
end-of-life decisions, housing, and health care. Compare and contrast
the experiences of older gays and lesbians with those of older
Well problems with the rights of gay/lesbian/homosexual (but will be referred to as GLH, it's easier to type.) people have been going on for quite some time now. But it's really become a much bigger issue recently. With new laws coming out all the time granting GLH rights in some places, and denying them in others, many people are getting different views.
If you think about it, the newer GLH people probably have it a little harder. Because they've been here for a less amount of time, but the majority of that time has been people debating over whether they should have certain rights. Older ones.... they probably deal with it a little better. Most of these laws are much newer, and even though it's older heterosexuals making the laws, they aren't the ones giving healthcare, or doing taxes and such. And again this is a new occurance.
So the older GLH probably weren't always oppressed. People seem to get less understanding as humanity develops. But as far as compared to straight people, the GLH people, of any age, have always had a much harder time with public policies, and end of life decisions, housing, etc. strictly on the premises that they are GLH. And mostly because heterosexuals are in power. That's usually what happens, when one group rules over another, without any representation, and a corrupt government. That's what I think about that. That doesn't necessarily mean it's true, but yeah.
