FACTS ABOUT NEWS

Fake news refers to false new information and stories mostly spread on social media. The
term is an invention of President Donald Trump (Ireton, Posetti, 2018). Fake news spreads
widely on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. People constantly get advice on
trying to stop using the term fake news which mostly appears in the anti-democratic propaganda
and is meaningless but doing great harm (Woolley, Howard, 2019). It is making a large
population believe in false information and making people less likely to accept any information
on social media. For example, there can be news about an earthquake to happen in a few hours
and people can ignore and not take precautions with the thought that it is fake news.
According to the Cobuild Advanced English dictionary, a post-truth is a situation in
which individuals receive less influence by information than by their emotions and ideas they
already have. Post-truth is highly related to politics and hence the name post-truth...
