Part I: Interview Transcript
The aim of this interview was to understand the life process and experiences of an elderly
person with regard to factors such as family, education, work, relationships and parenthood,
significant life events and transitions as well as the most memorable experiences of their life.
The interview targeted an elderly person because they ought to have a lot more to share as
compared to an adolescent of middle-aged adults (Shapovalenko, 2017). The questions were
asked politely, and interviews made as informal as possible. Confidentiality was observed, and
no names were used, and information obtained was purely meant for academic use.
Questions and Answers of the Interview
1. Please tell me about your family history and background. The interviewee responded to
this saying that she had been born in the early 1950s in a well-off family. She said that
they lived in a big home comprising of a nuclear family and everyone was always
present. Her grandfather was a nice man who had allowed his sons to live with him
together with their wives and children as they helped him take care of the large farm he
owned. She further added that they lived lavishly, considering that they were from a highclass home.
2. What is your highest level of education, and what you tell me about your educational
experience? The interviewee said that coming from a successful family, she had no
option but to study. She went through middle school to high school and pursued a degree
in Accounts. She added that she had considered pursuing her masters in the same until
she got married and forgot about it. The interviewee told me that her experience was the
best, having attended the best private schools all the way from middle school to college.

She says that she did not take her father’s efforts to educate her for granted; she,
therefore, worked really hard to make him proud.
3. What can you tell me about your volunteer and work experience? The interviewee
responded to my question by first commenting that she had never volunteered in any
work during her young age. She, however, undertook volunteer programs in her senior
adulthood that mostly involved the church and local schools. They would give out food to
children in the local schools and assist those in the streets. Regarding work, she said that
straight out of college, she was employed at a local bank as an accountant. A few years
