1) What is cancer? What are the different types of cancers?
Cancer is a pathologic condition associated with proliferated growth of body cells associated
with the evasion of growth-controlling factors (Mirabello et al., 2017). Cancer results from the
abnormal cell division and cell growth that results in spread to the regional organs hence causing
adverse disease states that may be dangerous to the human body as they appear.
Cancer has different types of classifications based on the appearance and the regions it affects.
From a general point of view, cancers can be categorized in the following broad types:
i.
Carcinoma
As a type of cancer, carcinomas are types that are generated from the skin or associated with
organs lining or neighboring the others (Greenstein 2016). Carcinomas are associated with the
skin, and in most cases, the basal cells of the skin undergo proliferation and anomalous growth
resulting in structures that are not required.
ii.
Sarcoma
The sarcomas are considered cancers of the connective tissues of the body (Greenstein 2016).
The musculoskeletal system of the body is made of bones, muscles, cartilages, and blood vessels.
