Introduction

Terrorism and its accompanying activities have intensified over the last two decades,
causing significant harm to not only property but also taking away the lives of many people
(Kingsley, 2010). In real sense, terrorism refers to using violent means as a way of advancing
political objectives (Kingsley, 2010). A large portion of terrorist activities get linked to Islam,
but other religious groups are also involved in these activities. An example is an attack
perpetrated against Muslims in New Zealand by a Christian fanatic. In most cases, those
committing these acts do not consider their actions as terrorism but rather heroic deeds and
reprisal against injustice. Religion should have little to do with terrorism, and despite this,
religious inclinations are now used as the fuel from which terrorist activities draw from.
Interaction between Religion and Terrorism
The perceived or otherwise existent correlation between religion and terrorism has
formed the crust of debates that are not likely to cease soon (Juergensmeyer, 2017). In recent
