project he or she assigned to was selected by an organization because
the processes involved in project management are pioneering, planning,
accomplishing, taking control and finishing up, that are required to
accomplish project’s requirements, which are reiterative in nature.
They are reiterative because there is the necessity for elaboration in
terms of the progress of a project across its lifecycle, which in turn
means that if one knows more about a project, he or she is at a better
position of managing it (Project Management Institute, 2017).
Furthermore, it is crucial for a project manager to understand the
project they were assigned to was selected by the organization because
they need to assess and measure the project’s value and executability.
This is achieved by the use of evaluation tools to assess whether to
pursue the project or not, for instance, the document where the need for
the project is justified and estimates of possible benefits financially
assessed, the practicability study where timeframe, goals, and costs
are evaluated.According to Lussier and Achua (2016), authentic and strong
leadership equates to a successful, engaged, and high-performing
workforce that results in a successful strategy implementation.
Competent project managers should possess proficient skills to guide the
team such that the best is achieved from the project team. Nonetheless,
project managers encounter predicaments more so if they fail to
understand how the project fits the organization’s strategy. Some of the
most critical problems they face include: the organization having
poorly defined goals that render the project manager and his team to
confusion if the objectives are not clearly defined, inadequate
communication more so when the project manager fails to provide
direction in every step of the project as is required of him or her,
impossible to meet deadlines, inadequate project resources, equivocal
contingency strategies, and poor team skills where a project manager who
is considered excellent at his or her work leads a team that lacks
