What are the most important skills a leader may possess? How may these skills be used in an organizational setting? What methods may you use to improve your skill set to become a more effective leader?
Successful leaders should be able to lead by example and have the moral fiber and confidence to do so in a manner that is conducive to others following them. Furthermore, leaders should be willing to listen to their followers and gain the respect and support of their supporters by first providing their own respect for each of his or her constituents. Additionally, a leader must be bold and willing to take proper action when it is necessary. A leader is often chosen for his or her ability to take initiative and do what is required for the good of the populace when the time comes for it. Overall, there are many characteristics that are necessary for a leader to be effective in an organizational setting. These include being confident, admiring support and respect of his followers, prepared, having a high moral fortitude, being capable of making tough decisions, being being bold and capable of taking initiative, etc. I personally, do not have a high patience. When I work in a group, I often end up being the leader, and I quickly lose patience for other people's incompetence. In order to be an effective leader, I will have to learn to be patient and provide respect to even the most frustrating constituents of my followers.
