This is an analysis of the Delta Airlines. The paper uses SWOT analysis to analyze both
the internal and external environments of the company. Also, it will include the analysis of
internal businesses interrelationships to include external opportunities and Constraints.

Delta Airlines SWOT Analysis

Delta Airlines was started in 1930 under the umbrella company known as Delta Airlines
Group. The company had been declared bankrupt in 2011 but since then it has rejuvenated by
cutting down the operations cost and merging with other renowned companies such as the U.S.
airways. The business model of Delta Airlines has been changed by reducing the cost of
operations with the aim of increasing its profits. The new business model focusses more on the
needs of their clients, providing good returns to the investors and also in planning for the future.
The goals of the airline are actualized by good leadership. The internal and external
environments are important in understanding the concept of leadership in this company. The
following paragraphs consist of the strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats of the Delta
Airlines.
Internal Environment
Strengths
The Delta Airlines is one of the largest airline companies in the world, and it has created
a lot of jobs opportunities and helped more than 1,000 Non-profit Organizations. The company
offers more than 6,000 flights on daily basis to more than 300 destinations in 50 countries. The
company’s goal is to have the youngest and the most advanced airplanes in the industry. This has
been realized by having an average of not more than 10 year old planes. The achievements made
by this company have made it to be recognized by the Air Transport World as 2017 Airline
Company of the year (Air Transport World, 2017).
