Introduction
Mobile devices are very crucial in digital forensics. The devices include tablets,
smartphones, GPS units, and PDAs. These devices use wireless networks, and they store a large
amount of data, which is essential when carrying digital forensic investigations. The devices
have a small size enhancing portability, and also use wireless networks. To improve device
efficiency and responsiveness, various improvements occur through the development of different
technology. The technology occurs in generations, and the most common of them include 1G,
2G, 3G, and 4G. With each technology, many improvements arise.
4G technology brought about many improvements as compared to 3G. The technology
was made to use frequencies of up to 6GHz and has a theoretical speed of about 100 megabits
per second (Sun, 2001). This brought about improved speed and responsiveness in mobile
devices. The fourth-generation brought about an increase in speed and connectivity. 5G is a term
that refers to the fifth generation of wireless communications technologies. The wireless
technology supports data networks in cellular devices. The technology design improves
responsiveness and the speed of the broadcast networks. 5G is a technology that aims to see a
significant transformation in the network access of cellular devices, which will significantly
improve the 4G, as well as increase the capacity of mobile devices to work at high speed,
improve the responsiveness of the devices, which will enhance information held. This will help
fasten investigations in digital forensic 5G will have a massive impact on digital forensic as it
will facilitate evidence-based investigations in cybercrimes. Besides, forensic media will see an
explosion of new careers.

Description of the technology
5G network operates by the use of cell sites system, which divides their regions to
sectors. The sectors receive encoded data through radio waves (Sulyman, 2014). The technology
connects each cell site to a network backbone using wireless connections. The type of encoding
used in 5G technology is the orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing, which is more
advanced than that in 4G technology (Tao, 2015). The 5G technology aims at bringing many
improvements to the current 4G technology. The architecture of the system is in a way that it has
a peak data rate of 20 Gb for the downlink while the uplink is 10Gb, which is 1000 times
increase to the 4G technology. Also, according to Johansson (2015), the technology also has a
capacity of going as low as four milliseconds on mobile devices, and as low as 1 millisecond in
Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communications.
Besides, the 5G network makes it possible not only to connect people but also to ensure
machines, city infrastructure, and automobiles are connected. Also, the technology structure
enhances connectivity, with about a hundred times, as well as 1000 times throughput increment
of the system, as Hossain (2014) states. 5G desi...
