The environment is one of the determinants of health. People depend on the environment
for various resources and energy which they require to sustain life such as safe drinking water
and secure places to live. Notably, climate change is an essential environmental issue that has
far-reaching effects on the health of individuals (American Public Health Association, 2015).
Over the last few decades, various human activities including combustion of carbon fuels
and other undertakings have resulted in the emission of large quantities of carbon dioxide and
other harmful gases which have resulted in climate change. Importantly, climate change has
various negative effects including changes in rainfall patterns, change in sea levels, and
occurrence of tornadoes (American Public Health Association, 2015). The above impacts pose a
threat to the health of individuals. Importantly, we should acknowledge that the severity of the
health risks mostly affects the economically disadvantaged, especially the old population at
