2. The news has been full of stories lately about the stock market problems, sub-prime
mortgages, and ponzi schemes. All of these required people to make decisions. Research one
of the stories and discuss how motivation influenced people to make such terrible decisions.
Had exponential discounting played a part in the decision(s) that you had researched. If so,
how?
3. Report on a decision that you were a part of or had witnessed in your organization where
personal motivation and/or emotions on the part of decision maker(s) may have caused a
sub-optimal decision to be made.
4. Recently, a number of major banks have rejected federal bailout money citing that they
did not like the rules that the government placed on them if they took the cash infusion.

current business-related “world event”
Write a 5 – 6-page paper on some current business-related “world event”. In this paper, you are expected to critically analyze this event and discuss its potential impact on globalization and world trade. This paper must be in APA format with appropriate quotes and references. Include a cover page and a Reference page, neither of which counts toward the 5-6 pages. Please understand that 5 pages is a minimum. The format for this paper and relative weighting towards the assignment grade is as follows: Review of Situation (15%) Analysis (25%) Potential Impact (25%) Conclusions (20%) I have attached rubric, in different file. It is highly recommended that you organize your paper according to these topics. Writing and following APA formatting will contribute to 15% of the grade. Note that “Analysis” and “Potential Impact” are weighted most heavily. Understanding why something has occurred and what that means to business – particularly in terms of numbers – are critical skills for Business Administration students today. Think of how you can quantify the event’s impact on globalization, global trade and/or a specific business or company. Doing your own financial analysis of the event (i.e., do some calculations to show impact) will really help you achieve higher scores on the “Potential Impact” section of your paper. As you know, we want to speak in terms shareholders typically want to hear - metrics that reflect shareholder value. And be sure your paper reflects this.Events involving recent IMF actions, specific company news, economic actions of countries (e.g. China, Germany, the UK, etc.), activities in Africa, and mergers & acquisitions (M&A) news are all example topics. Please do not write a paper on any topics we have already discussed (this includes the Euro Zone crisis and "Brexit”). You will receive no credit if you do so. Any other news event that will impact global business in some way is acceptable. Please contact me if you have any questions about the appropriateness of the topic you are considering. No plagiarism!

FIN200 mini case
BioCom was founded in 1993, when several scientists and engineers at a large fiber-optic-cable company began to see that optical fiber for the telecommunications industry was becoming a cheap commodity. They decided to start their own firm, which would specialize in cutting-edge applications for research in the life sciences and medical instruments. BioCom is now one of the leading firms in its niche field. BioCom’s management attributes the firm’s success to its ability to stay one step ahead of the market’s fast-changing technological needs. Almost as important is BioCom’s ability to select high-value-added projects and avoid commercial disasters.Over lunch, BioCom’s director of research and development (R&D) mentioned to the CFO that one of his best young scientists had recently left the company because his line manager had rejected his project. Although not a pattern, R&D had experienced similar losses in the past. The two executives discussed the problem and agreed that if the R&D people understood the selection process better, they might come up with more commercially viable projects and understand the project’s financial implications. The CFO has asked his assistant, Jane Donato, to prepare a retreat for the R&D department to explain the company’s project selection procedures. Jane is encouraged by the thought that this group will have no trouble in following the math.BioCom’s standard capital request form includes a narrative description of the project and the customer need that the company must fulfill. If the request originates with R&D, it then goes to the marketing department for a preliminary sales forecast and then to the production manager and cost analysts for cost estimates. If a proposal shows promise after these steps, it goes to the CFO, who has a staff member enter the data into a spreadsheet template. The template computes payback, discounted payback, net present value, internal rate of return, and modified internal rate of return. BioCom uses net present value as its primary decision criterion, but company executives believe that the other statistics provide some useful additional perspectives. To explain BioCom’s capital budgeting techniques, Jane has decided to present the cash flows from two recent proposals: the nano test tube project and the microsurgery kit project. All figures are in thousands of dollarsYou may use excel to answer the following questions, please come out with the solving process and use the formulas.Thank you so much!

MGT3035 W5 A2 - Resource and Time Budgets
MGT3035 W5 A2 - Resource and Time BudgetsAssignment 2: Resource and Time BudgetsUsing your textbook, read the Directed Reading entitled “Three Perceptions of Project Cost.” Based on your research and reading, answer the following questions: What are the differences in the ways project managers, accountants, and financial comptrollers perceive the expenses of a project? How are indirect costs involved in the preparation of the budget for a project? Using the typical profit and loss statement included in the Directed Reading, does it surprise you that a $1,000,000 project will generate only the Net profit shown on the bottom line of that statement? Why or why not? You are going to be the project manager for the construction of a large warehouse for a major international company. Of course, there are many elements involved in constructing such a large facility, but this assignment will consider only one, the laying of the facility’s foundation (which is obviously preceded by site preparation and followed by the actual construction of the building). In preparation for completing of this element of the project—laying the facility foundation—complete the following: Locate a source of data for the hourly wages that will need to be paid to those who will pour and finish the concrete foundation (the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the United States government is a good source for such information). Be sure to document the source of your hourly wage data for such concrete workers. Locate a source of data for the cost of a cubic yard of reinforced concrete. Be sure to document the source of your reinforced concrete cost data. Assuming that eight workers will be needed for the completion of the project, that they will work five days per week for 10 hours per day, and that it will take them three full weeks to complete the pouring of the foundation, what is your estimate (based on the hourly wage data that you located) of the labor expense of pouring the foundation? Assuming that the foundation will require 400 cubic yards of concrete, what is your estimate (based on the hourly wage data that you located) of the cost of the materials needed for pouring the foundation? How would “Overhead charges” (review the Budgeting chapter if you do not remember learning about this term) impact the two estimates that you have calculated? How would an increase in the cost of steel (one of the components of reinforced concrete) impact the budget that you had developed? If the construction site was impacted by a hurricane during the preparation of the foundation (meaning that work had to be temporarily stopped), how would the overall schedule of the construction project be impacted? Please provide your answers in a 3- to 4-page Microsoft Word document. Support your responses with examples.Cite any sources in APA format.
