This topic encompasses both positive and negative aspects of the use of media by
communities around the world. The topic covers a brief history of the evolution of media, over
the years, and what circumstances that lead to its introduction to the communities and what aspects
revolve around its evolution and or advancement. Other important issues of discussion are the roles
of the use of media today, types of media, and both negative and positive effects of using the media
in communities. Both negative and positive consequences of media use will be used to reflect what
normality the media has brought through its use to the community.

Introduction
Media is described as the sole source of sending and receiving information from one person
or group of persons to another. Media is simply another terminology for communication designed
to get a piece of information containing specific messages to a larger audience. It was widely
recognized by the 14th century, where the mode communication was rather not advanced, as
compared to today’s advanced media, people used traditional methods such as oral communication
(word of mouth), paintings on walls, and even smoke signals. By the early 20th century, media
experts had come up with more advanced ways of communication, that includes, scripts or written
texts, advanced mass media broadcasting set-ups such as the introduction to television and phones,
and the introduction to the internet, through the use of computers. Some of the main reasons as to
why the advancement or evolution of media was necessary are the major events or incidents that
