Microsoft Company Analysis
Microsoft Company’s generic strategy aligns with its intensive strategies since they help
in promoting growth. Such alignment is necessary since it equips the organization with a
competitive ability and eventually optimizes organizational performance. The company’s generic
strategy supports the attractiveness of the organization’s products, namely computer hardware
and software, amid the rising number of competitors in the market. The company’s strategies
also enhance the company’s ability to penetrate the market.
Microsoft Corporation has been using various strategies to increase its market penetration
even in areas where it has already established its markets. The organization has a strong brand
name that attracts more customers into the market. The strong brand name is also associated with
the development of popular product suites that it sells across the globe, including Windows,
Office, and Azure (Evans, 2017). The strong brand name also works as a strategy through which
it launches new software products. Such examples include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office,
and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Sherr (2019), acknowledges that Microsoft is making phones
again after it stopped making them years ago. Sherr further mentions that Microsoft is hoping to
make a comeback through the production of the Surface Duo that is a duo screen phone. The
organization hopes to use its strong brand name to sell this product to both new and existing
markets.
Microsoft Inc. also uses heavy advertising to create awareness of its products in the
market. In the early years, the organization sparingly advertised its products in the market.
