Black Lives Matter Movement

Black lives matter is an activist movement that originated from African-Americans and
the campaign has gained international attention. The campaign fights for the rights of the blacks,
particularly against violence and racism. The main ideas from the campaign focused on the
police brutality and killings towards the black race, racial profiling, and inequality in the criminal
justice system (Taylor, 2016). It was established that unarmed black Americans were twice likely
to be killed by the police as compared to the whites. So, the movement focused on fighting
against the killing injustices that were ranking high as a cause of death to people of color
specifically the young generation.
The focus on inequalities in the criminal justice sought to end the unique experiences and
disparities concerning the prosecution of races and policing (Taylor, 2016). In particular, there
have been different racial outcomes in convictions and sentencing of felons in the justice system.
The aim of the black lives matter was to end the racial disparities witnessed in the criminal
