Summary
A family with a child suffering from autism spectrum disorder (ASD) usually undergoes through
a significant amount of stain. The strain is even more severe when it comes to the care. As such,
there is a need of coming up with intervention mechanisms to help parents and caregivers to be
effective in their roles (Fewster, Govender & Uys, 2019). Many times, efforts and attention are
directed towards a person with ASD forgetting that the caregiver too needs to be recognized and
be given support because they feel frustrated in the quest of catering for the needs of such a
child. A greater percentage of the burden are usually felt by mothers who in most cases turn out
to be the primary caregivers. It therefore means that most mothers are subjected to mental strain
making them susceptible to depression and anxiety. Studies shows that the behavioral difficulties
of a child amounted to a significant increase in the stress levels in mothers. As such, the
